SPREADS AND SEASONINGS TO ADD ZEST TO YOUR MEALS

CRUSHED GARLIC SPREAD

1/2 c Non Dairy Cream Cheese (See recipe.)
Fresh or bottled crushed garlic to taste

Stir together the cream cheese and crushed garlic until smooth, and serve as a tasty garlic spread, dip or filling. Try adding a just a touch of it to steamed veggies.

SESAME PARMESAN

1 c. hulled (white) sesame seeds, lightly toasted
1 t. salt
1/2 t. garlic powder
4 t. food yeast flakes

Place small heavy saucepan over medium high heat and preheat briefly. Place sesame seeds in preheated pan and stir constantly with a fork until seeds are golden in color. Remove from heat and continue stirring seeds until pan has cooled. Place in blender or small food chopper with seasonings. Cover and whiz at high speed. If using blender, loosen seeds from blender bottom with wooden chopstick or narrow wooden spatula. Cover and whiz again at high speed. Repeat several times until sesame seeds are ground fine. Refrigerate in zippered plastic bags.

SESAME PARMESAN FRENCH BREAD

Place slices of whole grain or multigrain French bread in single layer on cookie sheet. Sprinkle Sesame Parmesan (See recipe.) evenly over slices, rubbing in firmly with fingers. Mist lightly with water and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. (Watch carefully, since oven temperatures vary.)

Sesame Parmesan French Bread is especially tasty with Italian entrees, but is a delicious accompaniment to any entree, soup, or salad. Try it on 3-Seed Sourdough French, Multigrain Sourdough French, or Roasted Garlic Bread.

SAVORY SEASONING BLEND

1/2 t. ground savory
1 T. onion powder
1-1/2 t. ground marjoram
1 T. dried parsley flakes
1-1/2 t. dried celery flakes
1/4 c. salt
1 t. garlic powder
1/2 c. food yeast flakes

Place all ingredients in dry blender, cover tightly, and whiz at high speed for 2 minutes, until ground fine. Store in zippered plastic bag. Savory Seasoning Blend is a tasty multipurpose seasoning for gravy, scrambled tofu, hash browns, salad dressing, and more.

SAVORY SALAD DRESSING

1 c. Non Dairy Cream Cheese (see recipe)
1 c. water
1 T. Savory Seasoning Blend (see recipe)
2 t. lemon juice

Place all ingredients in blender, cover, and whiz at low speed, then increase to medium speed until smooth. Chill in covered container. Mixture will be thin and will separate while cooling, but will thicken when chilled. Beat with wire whisk until smooth and creamy.

Savory Salad Dressing makes a delicious dip for raw veggies. Decrease water to 1/2 c to make a dip.
